The word 'gulet' derives from the French goulette, or schooner. The Turkish gulet is a broad beamed wooden boat originally used for fishing. The gulets used in our trips are equipped with motors and modern navigational systems in addition to sails. Traditionally the wood for a gulet must be cut during a new moon. This is so the wood will repel worms. The gulets size and shape is ideal for a luxury yacht with large decks fore and aft. The forward deck has comfortable cushions and is ideal for sunbathing. The gulets used in all of our itineraries have all the modern amenities. Power is the standard European 220 volts.
